The Daniel Island Neighborhood Association (DINA) exists to be a civic voice for Daniel Island and all its residents. The strength of DINA rests on the commitment of its membership. Together, we can speak with a louder voice to accomplish more for our community.

PURPOSE

DINA’s purpose is to communicate information from Berkeley County and the City of Charleston; to keep all informed of significant developments affecting Daniel Island; to represent all Daniel Island residents on issues that impact the general community; to communicate the interests of Daniel Island residents to Berkeley County and the City of Charleston; and to foster a sense of community and cooperation among the residents of Daniel Island.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

DINA has helped advocate for city and county services to include:

  • The completion of Governor’s Park including lighting the Grand Lawn.
  • Improvements in street safety through traffic calming devices, the addition of speeds bumps and one-sided parking.
  • A sensible approach to street lighting.
  • Building of a Pavilion at Freedom Park that provides restroom facilities and a patio with picnic tables.
  • Creation of a school safety patrol to aid students crossing at the intersection of Daniel Island Drive and Pierce Street during morning and afternoon student travel times.
  • A commitment from Berkeley County School Board to maintain grades K-8 on Daniel Island.

FUTURE PLANS

What improvements would you like to see? Are you dreaming of a community building for fun gatherings? How about more effective pedestrian crossings on Seven Farms Drive?  Come and see what your neighbors are up to and add your voice to the mix.
