Summary of Latest Land Use and Zoning Activities

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings.

Technical Review Committee – The next meeting will take place on October 26. On the agenda is to discuss the revised road construction plan for Rhoden Island Drive.

Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design – The next meeting will take place on November 1. No issues of impact to Daniel Island are set to be discussed.

Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning – The next meeting will take place on November 7. Agenda not yet published.

Design Review Board – At the last meeting on October 16, the request for final approval for the design of 2 covered parking spaces at 145 River Landing Drive was deferred, and the request for conceptual approval for an addition and renovation of an existing Publix at 162 Seven Farms Drive was also deferred to restudy the building and produce a more honest façade. The next meeting will be held on November 6. On the agenda to discuss is the request for conceptual approval for the construction of a new office building at 297 Seven Farms Drive.

Planning Commission – The request for the subdivision concept plan approval for Fairbanks Drive scheduled for the October 18 meeting was deferred. The next meeting will take place on November 15. Agenda not yet published.
